The Intercontinental Exchange, an on-line trading platform for over-the-counter energy and commodity products, announced that it traded contracts covering more than two million megawatt hours in the first month after going live. ICE trading volumes have been steadily increasing since the launch of energy products on October 12 and precious metals on August 24. The total notional value for all OTC products traded to date on the ICE is now over $13 billion.

E-B2B Trade Association Launched

The @Markets Association was recently launched as one of the Internet industry's first professional trade groups intended to represent the needs of the B2B exchange community. @Markets will serve as the main forum for the understanding and development of B2B commerce. Created by the Futures Industry Association, @Markets will provide education, networking, standardization and development opportunities. The association will support companies involved in all forms of B2B e-commerce, including independent B2B exchanges, coalition marketplaces and private exchanges.

SunGard Investment Management Systems, creator of the Decalog software package, announced that Raiffeisen Kapitalanlage, headquartered in Vienna, Austria, is now in production with Decalog. SunGard is a major supplier of investment management software solutions for the front-, middle- and back-office activities of global asset management firms. The Decalog package provides decision support, compliance, performance measurement and attribution, and assists trading departments in streamlining work-flow. "The investment management process at Raiffeisen is now fully automated within an integrated end-to-end and straight-through-processing environment,” noted Theirry Aiglon, Decalog's president.

In a separate development, SunGard also announced that Mizuho Securities Co. has adopted SunGard Trading Systems' Global Trader as its primary fixed-income trading platform. Mizuho Securities Co.—a division of Mizuho Financial Group, the recently integrated Japanese banking conglomerate comprising Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank, Fuji Bank and the Industrial Bank of Japan—will use Global Trader to handle and process trades for all of its domestic and international fixed-income instruments.
