The two companies announced that they have integrated their trading processing platforms to enable what they believe is the first straight-through-processing service offered by a global foreign exchange multibank exchange. Currenex integrated its on-line trading system, FXtrades, with FXpress' Foreign Exchange Risk Management system.

Techrules.com, EGAR's incubator project, has secured first-round funding from venture capital sources, valuing the company at more than $11 million. The announcement was made less than 90 days after EGAR began work on the project. The company also announced the sale of its FOCUS system to FX Concepts, which will use the system to manage fixed-income and foreign exchange trading and risk management exposures in its New York City and Rochester offices.

The exchange announced plans to demutualize and to launch SAM (Montreal Automated System), a new electronic trading platform that will trade the CGB, the 10-year Government of Canada bond futures contract. It will also soon launch two new products: single-stock futures and futures contracts on sectorial indices.

The firm announced it has launched a derivatives trading business as part of its U.S. dollar liquid products group. Previously the firm offered derivatives products as an agent for its parent, National Westminster Bank PLC. Its traders will now be acting for Greenwich through its sister company, Greenwich Capital Derivatives, with trades guaranteed by parent companies NatWest and The Royal Bank of Scotland Group.

The systems developer announced the acquisition of order-routing technology from traderspace Ltd., a leading Australian futures e-broker based in Sydney. The new technology automates the collection of orders via the Internet, leased lines and other media, and routes these orders to electronic futures and options markets.

Context Integration, an Internet design firm, announced a strategic alliance with onExchange.com, a provider of trading systems for on-line markets. Context Integration will integrate onExchange's trading and clearing system for joint clients that wish to enable their marketplaces for forward contracts, swaps, futures or other derivative instruments. Clients will be able to incorporate risk management tools into their procurement capabilities, allowing a trading system with integrated clearing and settlement.

Radianz.com announced that Pedestal.com would use its financial community extranet to help its efforts to establish an on-line marketplace for the trading of mortgage-backed securities and mortgage loans. Under the agreement, Pedestal will be able to connect with market-makers such as Deutsche Bank and Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette in a more secure on-line environment. Radianz will also house the trading platform servers and provide Internet connectivity.

The exchange's board voted to create its electronic business as a wholly owned subsidiary, to be named Electronic Chicago Board of Trade (eCBOT). Members will be issued shares only for the CBOT, not both the CBOT and eCBOT, as originally planned.
